   Pierre Oulevay
The work of Pierre Oulevay, all in fingering and fineness, continues to develop and impose itself in the memories.

Four years have elapsed since the previous exhibition of the artist in the Gallery. During this time, his paintings have enriched. Similar to themselves, however so different, they have conquered even more space and light. The recent works are bathed with a quasi transparent clarity, overflowing and giving the pictorial surface and the eye which is gazing at them, a sensation of smooth and velvety skin. The work is inviting to a tactile contact, so to pick up the fragile texture, than to taste the infinite subtlety of the shades. The whites, the greys, the earth colours, sometimes slightly tinted with oranges, blowing life and dynamism into the painting. Traces, skilfully outlined with an oily stick or a brush, seem to graze the canvas, so light they are, however inscribed in such a pertinent and right way. They are the fruit of a long maturation and introspection through the meanders of the tissues of existence.

The eye tirelessly follows these traces, these smooth curves, fitting a body, the outlines of a face, the winding of a shoulder, the rounded forms of a breast, the flight of a leg, the sketch of a sex. All is harmony, however, in an underlying way, stamped with the strength of the sculptor who is modelling, chiselling, eroding, filing up, polishing, or in contrary chooses the raw, the unmanufactured surface.
The feminine forms appearing on the canvases of Pierre Oulevay are at one and the same time light like a breath and sculpted in the bronze. Here present and captivating, there fugitive and immaterial, passing like a dream, they challenge the eye, raising emotion, sensibility, discovery.
